I've pondered translating professionally for some time now and have finally decided to take the plunge, so here's some information about me to help you with your decision.
First, I consider both French and English to be my native languages. Although my mother tongue is French, I was exposed to English from a very early age and never looked back.
Over the years, I've also attended schools in both languages, first during my teenage years and later at the undergraduate level, starting with Economics studies in French at UQAM before finally completing my undergraduate Business degree in English at Concordia University, with a major in Accounting, a great way of gaining exposure to all aspects of the business world - what don't businesses try to track and quantify? -, and a minor in Management Information Systems, which I guess is as good a tie in as you can get to the practicalities and operational needs of pretty much any enterprise these days.
Along with all of this theoretical knowledge, I was fortunate to learn and apply my skills in a number of areas, most recently in the wonderful world of corporate and technical training, for a large U.S. based IT outsourcer.
Prior to that, I had the privilege of leading a team of IT first responders, more commonly known as CSRs, addressing the myriad needs of service users - who isn't one these days? - and was one myself for a number of years before that. This adventure came after a few years of useful experience gained in Banking. Along with that I've also dabbled regularly in investing since my late teens.
As you can see my experience is quite varied, not to mention the many other interests I've cultivated over the years, particularly whatever has to do with the culinary world.
And now, I'm ready to put all of this to work and provide you with what I hope will be some of the best professional translation services you've never had.
So don't be shy and let me know what you need. I'm sure you'll be very satisfied with the end result.
