Otherwise I'd get sucked into the kudoz pages and waste time instead of going straight to my emails first thing to see if any work related stuff has come in.
I actually use IATE but that doesn't stop me from overlooking it when seeking solutions.
I find that I tend to use my home page as a sort of "cover" to the "book" that is internet and don't linger on it for long...

But not because I give priority to some other frequently used websites - I just like to start with blank page.

I set more than one page as my opening pages - one of them is Proz, a couple of them are dictionary sites - but the one which actually comes up on top is usually a blank one - just like Kristina's

Venkatesh

My homepage is always about:blank.

igoogle Aug 11, 2009

which I've customised to show: the RSS feeds from several translation blogs I like; BBC news headlines; a currency converter; a units converter; my Google calendar; gmail message headers; UK national rail timetable query box; BBC weather forecast; calculator; Wikipedia search box.

I only recently realised that igoogle would do all this, and it has been very helpful.

iGoogle Aug 11, 2009

Like Angela, I really like iGoogle, too. You can change the items you put there, which is nice. At the moment I have Gmail preview, weather, phases of the moon and art of the day.

iGoogle as well Aug 11, 2009

hence my request, in the past, to Poz.com staff if they could develop some simple gadgets for iGoogle like the most recent: jobs, Kudoz, posts, etc. I am sure that many users of iGoogle would benefit from it.

Best Regards
Stanislaw

PS: I must admit that almost always I have a tab or two in my browser with Proz.com

I, likewise, use the BBC as my first point of call every day.

In memoriam
Yes, Yes, I do since 2001 Aug 11, 2009

Maybe I'm too ardent a member but I think it's important to be updated 'automatically' especially since having abandoned KudoZ alerts.
I always check my emails first, though.

So far I am surprised by the result. I thought a majority of the ProZ.com users was doing what I do.
