So normally, it would be a day off. In fact my Sundays are largely dedicated to visiting my mother-in-law in the nursing home and other family matters. Today I am following up on a very successful powwow I attended yesterday, and a couple of jobs I want to spend time on, to lighten my workload a little before deadlines tomorrow and Tuesday. Today I am following up on a very successful powwow I attended yesterday, and a couple of jobs I want to spend time on, to lighten my workload a little before deadlines tomorrow and Tuesday. I do try to make a point of keeping at least one day free of work each week. It is not necessarily the weekend, but one of our good colleagues has been really ill with stress, and reminded us at the powwow that it is no joking matter. We do have a duty to take time off and think of other things beside work. Freelancers can plan their own time, and it is often an advantage to be highly flexible to help clients out or suit your own programme. In many countries, I know, Sunday is just another working day. Here in northern Europe, it is traditionally regarded as a day off, so family and friends arrange gatherings and meetings at weekends. Whatever you are doing, have a good Sunday!

No work just now. I have had nothing for about a week. | | | Jocelyne S France Local time: 00:18 French to English + ... Thanks Christine! | Sep 13, 2009 |
Thanks for the wise words of advice, Christine! I agree that it's nice and important to reserve some time for oneself, on a Sunday or otherwise. I'm not working today (and generally try not to at the weekends whenever possible). I'm about to head out to a picnic that we've organised with some friends. The sun is shining and it looks like it's going to be a nice day. A great day to all, Jocelyne

It is almost a strange feeling... no work on a Sunday! Normally there is always something and, as Christine, I often work at least a little on Sundays. But yesterday I finished a big job, which actually should be delivered only on the 16th, and since I had already checked and re-checked everything, I decided it would be nice to get it out of my mind, so I delivered. So today is dedicated to sit outside and read (it's still warm in Crete), the dogs can enjoy the garden instead of just sleeping in... See more It is almost a strange feeling... no work on a Sunday! So today is dedicated to sit outside and read (it's still warm in Crete), the dogs can enjoy the garden instead of just sleeping in my office. Real nice feeling! I agree with Christine that stress should be avoided, and after a tiny heart problem last year in connection with stress - which cost me a week in hospital - I stay away from anything that stresses me. I don't accept more work than I can comfortably do within the agreed deadline and I try to be extremely organized as far as the paperwork is concerned. And now I will shut down the computer and enjoy my Sunday! I hope you all have a nice one yourselves. Dinny ▲ Collapse | | | Wil Hardman (X) United Kingdom Local time: 23:18 Spanish to English + ... Working on a Sunday :( | Sep 13, 2009 |
Unfortunately I have a full day's work ahead of me, which is made even worse by the fact we seem to be having our only bit of summer in England right now and we are about to embark on a long and gloomy winter. I, like Christine, like to keep Sundays free. | | | No work, it's Sunday | Sep 13, 2009 |
I avoid work on Sundays if at all possible. I'll stay up late on Saturday and get up early on Monday if necessary, but Sunday is my day off. | | | Interlangue (X) Angola Local time: 00:18 English to French + ... I really should get started | Sep 13, 2009 |
Went for a long breath of fresh air this morning but some work must be done this afternoon. Last Tuesday and Wednesday were "week-end", so I must catch up now. Next "week-end" will be Oct. 2 to 6.

Somehow I hardly manage to keep the calender weekends (Saturday/Sunday) free. Yet I always have at least one day outside the weekend for household/groceries and so on free. And I rather enjoy working on Sundays actually as there are hardly any people contacting you and trying to make you work on their project first because "someone" decided to shorten the deadline *sigh*. I often work on weekends, and I do have a long-term job I could be working on, but since there's no pressure, I've decided to take the weekend off. | | | nothing today | Sep 13, 2009 |
it's been very quiet lately which i don't mind. I'm in the middle of moving furniture and going through my late father's apartment. I do work weekends, but this weekend i'm off. | | | Unusually, a full day off | Sep 13, 2009 |
Although I don't work so many hours over the weekends, there is normally something scheduled, but today I had decided to head for the hills with a picnic and my family, so I am happy that nothing has come in. | | | Pages in topic: [1 2] > | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Work wise, today is going to be TM-Town | Manage your TMs and Terms ... and boost your translation business
