Managing a project means a lot of things, starting from when you receive it, registering it (someone does it), translating, filing it and so on. Well I manage my projects suitably to my needs, but I knwo that I could do much better, and I realize that when I have a larger amount of translations to be done, then I have to write down notes, and manually check if it fits... So I can improve, even though it has worked till now.

I'm satisfied with how I organize my translation work, but I've had challenges with invoicing and record-keeping over the years. I have yet to find software, other than MS Excel, that captures all the types of information that I track and incorporate in my invoices. And I find that I make mistakes--mistakes that would never happen in one of my translations! | | | Anna Katikhina United States Local time: 13:49 English to Russian + ... I'm at the point where I realize that I really need a personal assistant. Mostly because I'm too often ovrloaded with administrative/bookeeping work/answering calls from clients/etc... Having really huge daily workloads I feel like one day I'll just have to give up sleeping if i want to do everything i need to. | |

There does not seem to be much to managing my projects. I simply receive them, note them in a log, do them, do the invoice and send it all out. That's it. If others have a problem in managing projects, then I think something must be wrong. | | | Chun Un Macau Member (2007) English to Chinese + ... Proz.com invoicing tool | Jul 28, 2010 |

If others have a problem in managing projects, then I think something must be wrong. It is of course easier to manage a smaller number of larger projects than an infinity of little odd bits and pieces but monthly invoices save me a lot of time and effort. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Are you satisfied with how you manage your projects?
