As used in Spain, your definitions are correct.

Most (though not all) banks and "cajas" use traspaso to refer to transfers between the accounts of the same accountholder or between different accountholders of the same bank.

While transferencia is used when transferring from one bank (or caja) to another.

One possible solution is to alternative "intra" and "inter" to refer to this.

If you are asking this question on a private banking level, then the only term that you should use transfer. e.g. He transfered the money to his savingsaccount. It doesn´t matter if you are transfering money within the same bank or to another bank.

Informal: the term ´wire money´ is also used, especially in American English. Mostly when using online banking.

When you are talking about this topic on a banklevel, then vocabulary such as inter/intra banking are more specific and necessary to be used.

There is also such a thing as ´third-party transfer´, where you transfer money from John´s account at bank X to Marie´s account at bank X.

Now that most banking happens online, people will use the word ´deposit´, meaning transfer (if we´re talking about saving money) or paying the phone bill.
