Italian term

zoccolo di anidride

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Geology
Also from a survey report relating to a quarry.
"[Gli approfondimenti previsti dal progetto] rispetto alla presente quota di base della cava non potranno ... essere effettuati in quanto è stato raggiunto lo zoccolo di anidride."

Discussion

Paola Battagliarini Feb 14, 2014:
James, yes, Italian sometimes mixes up the two terms but, given the context, the only possible version here is "anidrite" in Italian and, consequently, "anhydrite bed/layer/bedrock" in English
James Stuart (asker) Feb 13, 2014:
Anhydride or Anhydrite One reason for my doubts is that the text clearly states anidride, but anhydrite seems to make more sense... and as far as I can gather they are quite separate things.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Both suggestions very useful, thank you. As per the discussion comments, I think it would be correct to say "anhydrite" ... I'm not sure if there's a difference in using "anhydritic" ... basically its anhydrite bedrock and that's what I used."

anhydride layer

All in All I propose to apply Ground elevation on Minerals expansion on cities to bring them up 1 meter if you find a 100m strong sandstone or 30m strong anhydride layer.
