German term

9-32 V or 5 V

German to English Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology)
Für die Stromversorgung wird ein Weitbereichs-DC/DC-Konverter eingesetzt, der wahlweise mit 9-32 Volt oder 5 Volt gespeist werden kann.

A wide range-DC/DC converter is used to provide a power input, which can be fed alternatively with 9-32 V or 5 V.

Any advice in changing this sentence would be greatly appreciated.

9-32 V or 5 V

Your sentence looks fine to me; you could put the clause right after "converter" or replace ", which" with "and". You could also lose "input"; it's not necessary (IMO).

Sorry, if you lose the \"input\", you should also lose the \"a\" before \"power\", i.e. just use \"to provide power\".
Peer comment(s):

agree Ulrike Lieder (X) : I would also lose the "fed" and use a form of "supply"; "fed" sounds overly colloquial to me. To make it real smooth, use something like "supply voltage may be either ... or..."

I would not use 'alternatively' but rather:

A DC/DC converter with a wide input range is used to provide power and can be fed with either 9-32 V or 5 V.

You might even break it into two sentences: ... It can be fed...
Peer comment(s):

agree Susan Keller : also a good idea in two sentences
