AAA SERVICES PROVIDED WITHIN A WORKSHOP – SCOPE OF WORK

Introduction and Objectives

TTT intends to upgrade the testing facilities to enable TTT’s engineers to develop Euro 3 and 4 variants of the existing V8 engine. This requires, especially for Euro 4 due to the new test procedures (transient testing), the new technology (electronic fuel system, EGR) and the very low emission levels, not just new testing equipment but also new development procedures and strategies.

Hereby AAA recommends to perform a workshop with TTT’s experts in order to explain AAA’s development processes for engine development (i.e. Euro 3 / 4) as well as the testing needs and required equipment with regards to combustion development, engine and vehicle calibration, component development and durability testing. Together TTT and AAA could define how a specific process to upgrade the engine should look like. Based on that process TTT will be able to make decisions which of the different development tasks TTT would like to do by its own and which tasks are better or cheaper to outsource.

ABCD specialists are working on reissued documentation package study. Some questions and remarks occur during the process of study:

1. In the assembly drawing SSSS SSS SSSАА (Connecting Rod Assy) there are no item of part “Connecting Rod”, there are only parts items of parts RRRR RRR RR “Big End Cap” and “Connecting Rod Bolt”. What designation of part “Connecting Rod” has to be used in subassembly SSSS SSS SSSАА? How does the oil go between the crankshaft crank-pin and the connecting rod big end, as there no oil-supply ports both in big end cap and in connecting rod body? Please, explain us the technological way of manufacturing for parts “Connecting Rod” and “Connecting Rod Cap” in accordance with handed over documentation? What is the technological way of manufacturing of these parts for testing on II-180 engines for cycles of 250 hrs? Please, tell us the parts status after testing, as well as the findings of connecting rod manufacturer with respect to operating life assurance of this part for 2,500 hrs.
2. A technological way of part “Nut M6" to part TTTT TTT TTT “Blow-off Cover” mounting in the subassembly UUUU UUU UUU is not specified.
3. Please, provide a catalog or a standard of Seeger company, which is specified as a retaining washers KS-3 manufacturer in accordance with ВОМ (pos. 44), since the washers configuration is not specified completely, thus and so there is no possibility to choose an analog.
4. The design of part “Valve Guide” have changed: before the changing – VVVV VVV VVV with thrust collar against valve guide falling-out; after the changing – WWWW WWW WWW АА without thrust collar. Please, tell us, what is the reason for thrust collar removal in valve guide design? Please, inform us, what valve guides (with thrust collar or without thrust collar) were produced for testing of II-180 engine for test cycle of 250 hrs?
If tested valve guides were WWWW WWW WWW АА (without thrust collar), please, clarify the issue concerning the absence of fixing security loss symptoms of valve guide fixing in cylinder head body after test cycle of 250 hrs, as well as the findings of manufacturer against the valve guides material with respect to the operating life assurance of this part for 2,500 hrs. Was the interference between valve guide and cylinder head body changed in this case in comparison with the use of valve guides YYYY YYY YYY?
5. Please inform us, if the part ZZZZ ZZZ ZZZ “Oil-removing Cap” is standard one or not as per Goetze catalogs? If it is, please, specify the designation of cap in accordance with the catalog. What is the cap life-time as specified by manufacturer?
