Microsoft Office XPの言語バーに関する問題

日本語版MS Office XPをお使いの方に、お尋ねします。XPにはIME 2002が含まれていて、言語バーの表示ができるようになっていますが、最近この言語バーの動作が非常に不安定で、まったく反応しなくなったり、突然消えてしまったりします。問題発生直前の設定により、それ以降は英語直接入力しかできなくなったり、日本語でしか入力できなくなったりします。最近加えたシステム上の変更といえば、msblast対策のパッチなど、Windowsアップデートを行ったことと（Windows 2000）、Arial Unicodeをインストールしたことくらいです。念のためUnicodeは削除しましたが、やはり不安定です。同じような問題に遭遇された方、問題を解決された方、アドバイスをいただけたら幸いです。
