That would be almost 12000 words a day. I don't know about you, and your capacity, but I'm just not that good. Especially not from Norwegian to English. Of course this is a scam. They are practically telling you that they are trying to screw you. (needless to say, but this company has been banned from Proz)

Well, if anybody could translate 12,000 words a day they would need to be bionic and would have to be paid hell of a lot more I think I can safely say that this is a ridiculous request! Byeee Liz Askew | | | 12,000 words a day is possible | Apr 22, 2009 |
In the case of a text with over 80% repetition it would be quite feasible, in fact. If, in addition, all repetitions were paid for at the rate of 4 cents per word, of either dollars or euros, it would not be too bad a deal at all. | | | Lise Leavitt United States Local time: 22:32 Member (2008) Danish to English + ...

Well, if such a text exists it would need serious editing so that it was much more manageable. I would think the reader would be bored to tears were such a text to exist. I could offer to edit the text at a very good price:-) Liz

Some materials to be translated are massively repetitive, and are not intended to be read (software localization comes to mind). Anyway, the "job" in question is surely some sort of scam.

So how much DO you translate per day? | Apr 24, 2009 |
I'm quite fussy about what I take on from Norwegian. It is usually the sort of thing where a CAT is often useful for terminology and consistency, but the repetitions are not worth counting. Marketing, that needs to be formulated for the target group, newspaper articles for the general reader and so on. I need to watch out for false friends between Danish and Norwegian, but I never promise to do more than 2000 source words a day, apart from reliable 100% matches. That gives me something like 2200 - 2500 words in English, and it is quite a tough day. I translate into various language pairs, but in my two strongest (EN>ES, ES>EN), on a general text I can do about 500 words per hour (that includes translating and proofreading), so to do 10,000 words I would have to work 20 hours. As I usually translate for about 6-8 hours a day I can do between 3,000 and 4,000 words per day. | | | Pages in topic: [1 2] > | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » How are your capacity? 10000 words/day?
