Italian to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general) / CT / MRI scans
Italian term or phrase: CE
This is in a report of brain CT scan and MRI findings for a patient with stage IV kidney cancer and multiple metastases who was found to have bleeding in the brain in a CT scan and underwent additional imaging studies:

[c.e/franche is the way it appears in the report].

What does this little ce/CE acronym stand for here, and how do we say it in English?

Thanks again for your help.

Contrast Enhancement

Explanation:

cerebral edema

Explanation:
It is possible that this physician has used an English acronym instead of its Italian equivalent. Just an educated guess.

Internal bleeding can occur in any part of the brain. Blood may build up in the brain tissues, or in the space between the brain and the membranes that cover it... Blood irritates the brain tissues, causing swelling (cerebral edema).

http://www.nytimes.com/health/guides/disease/intracerebral-h...

Pathophysiology of cerebral edema at cellular level is complex. Damaged cells swell, injured blood vessels leak and blocked absorption pathways force fluid to enter brain tissues.
