The Stages of Professional Association Development table (see table 5) provides a brief description of the development of organizational capacity in terms of stages of a professional health association’s maturation. The tool provides, for each capacity area, examples of what could be expected of an association as it progresses from a basic, to moderate, to intermediate and finally to a high level of organizational maturity.
Applying the Stages of Professional Association Development Guide
The table provides additional information that can be used in Step 2 of the capacity improvement cycle when assessing the association’s capacity and Step 3, when analyzing the data. The guide is meant to be a flexible tool to help discussion and provide users with a sense of the stages of development or maturation of an organization.
It can help to determine what areas of capacity need to be improved. Users can refer to the guide as they discuss the level of capacity of their association and determine its rating
