OK, this has been bugging the hell out of me for years, but for some reason, I've never found the answer.

And here's the problem: when you call up "Find and Replace" (CTRL H) in memoQ and enter a term, it automatically assumes you want to search in the SOURCE text as well as the TARGET text.

Haven't found a solution Jul 31, 2021

I had the same bone to pick with memoQ, and tried to find a way to create defaults for this. This must have been about five years ago, but I remember that I asked and Kilgray replied that they did not have this possibility. Things could have changed, so I would post a ticket about it in Kilgray's support system. Let us know what you find out! Having default settings in this area would be great.

Miscellaneous > uncheck 'Search in both source and target by default'.
Once done, the F&R will search in source only when you put the cursor in source, and in target when you put the cursor in target.
