In memoriam
Another one Feb 26, 2008

I've just remembered another palindrome:

A SLUT NIXES SEX IN TULSA

Presumably, a headline - the situation being so unusual ? Hope I've got it right this time ...

Regards,
Jenny

nixes Feb 26, 2008

I've been a native speaker of English for some oh, 37 years now, but Nixes??

Then I looked it up and it all made sense: to refuse, is that right?

....you learn something new every day (the rest of the words I knew already).

The only language with a palindromic name? Mar 17, 2008

Malayalam, spoken in Southern India.

I don't know if this is the only one, but according to Salman Rushdie it is and I can't think of any others.

Of course, it may not be a palindrome in Malayalam.

Longest palindrome in Portuguese Mar 23, 2008

A NAMORADA RIA DO CASACO DA IRADA ROMANA
(The girlfriend laughed at the angry Roman woman´s coat).

I´m kidding. Maybe this is not the longest palindrome in my language. But it is the longest I created. If anyone knows a longer one, please tell me.

Cheers!

And this is just great:

'Madam, I'm Adam'

First palindrome ever

And of course, she just answered with her name: "Eve". (Second palindrome ever)

a few in Dutch Jul 10, 2008

the longest single-word palindrome I know in Dutch is 'parterretrap'.

but I also like "Naai 'r dan, Adriaan." meaning "Screw her then, Adriaan." I know, I know... But a dirty mind is a joy forever
