Yes, same here. I didn't even report it as it was clearly a scam/phishing attempt. A (new and empty) profile did exist, but it appears it's been removed. The sender's IP was from the Ivory Coast. It's a type of scam called phishing: an anonymous email pretending to sound friendly and asking for personal information: your name, your email address (when you reply, you're actually giving your email address away). I got the same one, just ignored it. The message itself doesn't even make sense.

Seriously. Why do you even consider it's NOT a scam?

Hi Mervyn, as the e-mail I received is written in a way that makes me doubt about its "good faith" (due to some previous experiences with a couple of scams), I just wanted to know the opinions of other colleagues and, if it is a real scam, to warn them. | | | Mervyn Henderson (X) Spain Local time: 00:58 Spanish to English + ... No reason to warn them | Dec 29, 2017 |
Hi Marcella, What I mean is, there should be no reason to warn anyone about a message from "Mrs. Maryplease". You'd have to have the intelligence of a subnormal prawn to fall for that one.

My sentiments exactly. | Dec 29, 2017 |
I started then to write a reply to that tenor but subsisted believing such a message was too stupid to consider it any threat.

Apparently many still have, translators most likely included, otherwise these scams wouldn't go on. I don't know, Mervyn, how familiar you're with this group but most of the scams published here are equally stupid. It's never bad to publish them, though the "prawns" that fall for them are most likely of the kind that can't be bothered with googling or checking anything... but you never know, publishing and publicizing as much details as possible is all we can do. Even if the only effect would be pissing off the scammer, it'd be worth it! | | | Received and | Dec 30, 2017 |

As others have said, this is clearly a phishing scam. They'll always say there's some sort of urgent or pressing issue that only you (why do they think we're so special in the first place?) can deal with, and ask you to contact them privately. Always ignore and delete such emails, and report and/or blacklist the email address. Thanks for letting us know about this, Marcella. Others in this thread have said you'd have to be stupid to fall for it, but that doesn't change ... See more As others have said, this is clearly a phishing scam.
