Winning this contest is a great achievement.
I think Anne Diamantidis (sorry if is misspelt your surname, Anne) participated in the English-French language pair and did very well.
I'm a little disappointed about my 6th place, but there you go - better luck next time!
I think the contest is a great idea and will definitely take part in the next one as well.

I'm not too sure about the voting, though. Might be a bad idea that participants are allowed to vote in the qualification phase, especially if you can give negative votes to your competitors. Maybe only positive votes should be allowed in qualification phase and only those with a pre-determined minimum of positive votes should qualify for the next round.
What do the others think?

Many thanks for the congratulations, but I was just lucky!
There were only three translations(including mine), so it was not a real competition... (and the text also was a relatively easy one compared to the last two contest...)
I am proud of it of course, but you can't compare it for example to the english-german pair where were much more applicants.
Katrin, you also can be proud of your achievement!

Hi Katrin ! Thank you very much ! - yes, just like you I did it to the 6th place in the English > French pair.
(and nope, you didn't misspelt my name !)
You're absolutely right, it was really good fun and as we said :"the important ist to be part of it" Well done, you, anyway, it was pretty crowded in the english>german pair; so you actually did very well !
And of course : Csaba : congratulations !!!!!!! Luck isn't everything, but luck and talent are the greatest association !

I understand your point regarding the voting in the contest Katrin.
In the last contest, submitted translations first went through a qualification process, so that the community could decide which translations they considered should make it to the finals. Then the final voting was made upon a reduced number of texts. Anyway, some changes in the voting process will be implemented out of the experience in this last contest.
And I definitely agree with Csaba: all students should be participating in the next contest! ▲ Collapse

I gave it a try - my language pair is Spanish-English. It was fun; the Spanish source text was not too hard - unlike the English one - phew! So many expressions I don't know in Spanish yet. If I have time I will try again because I bought a two-way slang dictionary and might be able to find them in there - that language pair is just for fun anyway.
I might try Spanish-Norwegian for fun also. Neither are native languages, but how many chances do you get to translate with no pressure?... The fourth Proz.com translation contest finished yesterday. It has been the biggest so far, with 396 entries, and I would like to give my congratulations and thanks to all the student members who participated and all the student users that have actively voted in this contest.
